Will the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests be Sold?

I found this Letter to the Editor on the Ashville Citizen Times.com website. I can’t say for sure if this is just someone speaking from feelings they have or if there is more to it, but the implications are quite disturbing! I can find nothing that confirms or refutes this allegation.

For the greedy and selfish few, the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests will be sold off. Long-range views will be transformed into views of luxury, high-end subdivisions dotted with “McMansions,” as is already happening. The real losers are the visitors to the Blue Ridge Parkway. They will be the ones looking down on Cowee Mountain and similar vistas and wondering what happened to the beautiful WNC they remembered. How do I know this? The process is already in full swing. I have already seen the sad faces and heard the comments. But our politicians keep the lies and pork spending coming full throttle.
