To me this old barn is a classic beauty. Tucked in among the trees, shrubs, and hills I can’t help but think about the history of this little beauty and all of the lives that are enter-twined with its existence. Grandpa—Sleeping it Off

While riding the back roads in Arnold Valley, Rockbridge County, Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we ran across this old country store where the owner is turning into a museum. This is one view of the inside of the store and Grandpa is really a wax figure…The corn liquor jug next to him is real, but I think it was empty. I wonder if Grandpa comes to life at night…

Civil War Era Foundry

The three furnaces seen in this image were used to make various items during their time. During the American Civil War the furnaces ran 24/7 making cannon balls. We found these in a little town called Eagle Rock, Virginia near the James River and a railroad line; the two most important modes of transportation, during the era, were bateaux and railroad…

The Kanawha Canal ran along the James River from this area to Richmond and was constructed for ease of navigation to avoid the rapids along the then dam-less river. This canal served as a major route for transporting goods from Western Va. to Richmond…the capital of the confederacy.

The Periphery of Fog

On the crest of Thunder Ridge on the Appalachian Trail on a very foggy, misty late afternoon during the first days of spring, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

I’m trying to get together enough to buy a new camera; as some of you know I am cameraless right now…mine gave out. Anyone interested in buying prints of my images should contact me here… Thanks all!

Glenn Falls

Taken at Glenn Falls is in Augusta County, Virginia, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s on private property, but I managed to get to it to take some pictures. The falls itself drops 25-30 feet into this beautiful natural pool after which the creek continues East to the Tye River in Nelsen County.
